Inspiration

Created especially for the Father’s Day Blog Hop hosted by Green Fox Farms. This pattern will not only be an enjoyable project for you, but it will also make a meaningful and practical gift for any dad. Of course, I’ve been working on a few other glasses case patterns like a floral case and a sweet MOM case but I thought that a DAD case would be a fun, unique project for this event.

If you want more pattern ideas that are great for gifting anytime of year, then be sure to check out a few of my other patterns shown below.

Design Details

The glasses case is made with a 4.00 mm (G) hook and 2 different colors of any worsted weight yarn. The main color uses 62 yards and the alternate color needs 19 yards. I’ve used several different color combinations and love how unique each case turned out.

These cases work up in just a couple of hours and are perfect for the intermediate level crocheters or for those advanced beginners who want to venture out and try something new. Like many of my designs, you can personalize the case to your own taste by using solid colors, fun variegated yarn or even tweed yarns.

One of my favorites was made with Brava in black and Brava Tweed in Stratus.

The glasses cases are worked in the round from the bottom up using the waistcoat stitch. Previous experience with colorwork is helpful but definitely not required. I used a combination of tapestry and intarsia crochet. Be sure to leave slack in the yarn if you decide to carry it instead of clipping it after each color change.

This crochet pattern is really easy to customize with the endless color options that are available in worsted weight yarn. My testers used many different brands of yarn to make their glasses cases.

Several of the yarns that they used can be found on Amazon and if you want to check them out over there just click the photos below. **As an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualifying purchases.

  1. Worsted weight, (#4) yarn – Designed with We Crochet Brava & Brava Tweed
  2. 81 total yds: Color A = main color: 62 yds, Color B = letters & drawstring: 19 yds
  3. 4.00 mm (G) hook
  4. Yarn needle
  5. Stitch markers
  6. Scissors

Pattern Notes

* Intermediate pattern.

** Written in US crochet terms.

* Finished size: 4″ across x 7″ tall.

** Gauge: Body – 8 Wc x 9 Rnds = 2″.

* Chain stitch at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

** Try to work the Wc loosely and tip your hook up so that the 2nd loop is slightly higher than the 1st loop on hook. The Wc tends to tighten up which will make crocheting into the previous round difficult.

* Previous experience with colorwork is helpful but definitely not required. I used a combination of tapestry and intarsia crochet. Be sure to leave slack in the carried yarn.

** Each square on the chart counts as one st.

* Right side is always facing you and all tails should be on the wrong side (inside of glasses case) of your work.

** The case is worked in the round from the bottom up.

* The chart only shows Rnds 1 – 33. Due to using different sts on Rows 34 – 35 continue with the written instructions on page 4.
