Hey crochet friends! 💛
If you love simple, practical crochet projects that you’ll actually use every day, you’re going to love this one.
The Everyday Washcloth is the second pattern in my Everyday Home Collection and the seventh design in my overall Everyday Collection — a growing series of beginner-friendly patterns created for real life. From kitchen essentials to cozy handmade touches, each design is meant to be useful, beautiful, and easy to make.
Using the Interlocking Row Stitch, one of my favorite two-row repeats, this washcloth has a gorgeous textured look while still being simple enough for advanced beginners. It’s the kind of project that feels just as good to make as it does to use.
With two sizes included, this washcloth is incredibly versatile — perfect for dishes, everyday cleaning, personal care, or even a thoughtful handmade gift for a baby shower or housewarming.

This post contains affiliate links and that means that if you should make a purchase from these links I will receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for continuing to support my small crochet business.
And because it’s made with worsted weight cotton yarn, it’s durable, eco-friendly, and works up quickly — making it a great project for relaxing crochet sessions or last-minute makes.

If you’ve already made the Everyday Hot Pad or other patterns in the Everyday Collection, this washcloth is the perfect next project for your handmade home.

The Idea Behind the Everyday Washcloth
The idea for the Everyday Washcloth came from my love of simple stitches and practical crochet projects. After designing the Everyday Hot Pad and seeing how beautifully the Interlocking Row Stitch worked for everyday use, I knew it would make the perfect washcloth too.
There’s something special about creating handmade pieces that become part of your daily routine — whether it’s in the kitchen, your self-care time, or thoughtful gifts for others. This washcloth was designed to be one of those pieces: simple, functional, and easy to make again and again.

Design Details
The washcloth is designed with I Love This Cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby. It’s worsted weight yarn that is amazingly soft and works up perfectly for this pattern. There are two sizes included with the ad-free PDF and you only need a 4.00 mm hook and a 38 yards to make the small washcloth or 103 yards for the large one.
The small washcloth is a convenient 7″ x 7.25″ for washing a sweet baby or taking off makeup and the larger version measures 9.25″ x 10.25″ making it very useful in the kitchen.

The Everyday Washcloth is worked in one piece using the Interlocking Row Stitch. I’ve also included a hanging loop in the written instructions but it’s completely optional. This is a tighter stitch making it perfect for washing dishes or taking make up off.
Yarn Info!
The washcloths shown above are made with I Love This Cotton in Sunlit Seafoam and Khaki. I also used I Love This Cotton in Ivory which is shown in photos throughout the article.
Several of these yarns can be found on Amazon and if you want to check them out over there just click the photos below. **As an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualifying purchases.

I love how easily customizable these Everyday Washcloths are. With the unlimited colors that are available in worsted weight cotton yarn you can whip up so many of these in almost any color. Look at these washcloths from my amazing testers, Stacy, Whitney, Ethy, Patti and Michele!
The testers used different brands of cotton yarn and I love how they’re all so different. Stacy used Peaches and Creme cotton in Black Currant, Whitney and Patti both used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton and then Michele used We Crochet Dishie. All of them worked up beautifully, right?!

The Everyday Washcloth is an easy pattern perfect for advanced beginner crocheters. It only uses basic single crochet and double crochet stitches.
