This free crochet headband pattern is worked flat from one tie end to the other using worsted weight cotton yarn. The finished headband is lightweight, comfortable to wear, and easy to customize in your favorite colors.

Inspiration
So, I have to admit that I don’t really wear headbands much, but, I do absolutely love them. In fact, I started working on a couple of designs a few years ago, things just got busy and I never followed through. This spring though, my daughter let me know that I really needed to get on the headband wagon because, she says, “They’re very popular mom.” What Alyssa says I usually do. But seriously, I truly love her helping me design new patterns.

About the Breezy Days Headband
The Breezy Days Headband is worked flat in rows from one tie end to the other. You’ll begin with a narrow single crochet tie, gradually increase into the wider headband section, and then work crossed double crochet stitches and airy chain-loop sections through the center.
The shaping is then reversed to create the second tie.
The finished headband measures approximately 2 inches wide × 24 inches long and can be tied in a simple knot. Prefer a bow? The ties can easily be lengthened by repeating the tie rows until you reach your preferred length.

Construction
The Breezy Days Headband is worked flat in rows from one tie end to the other. The first end is worked in single crochet and gradually increased to form the wider headband section.
Crossed double crochet stitches and airy chain-loop sections create the open, textured center of the headband before the shaping is reversed to form the second tie end.
Pattern Notes
- Written in US crochet terms.
- Ch 1 and ch 2 at the beginning of a row do not count as a stitch.
- Keep the chain stitches relaxed. Working the chains too tightly may affect the width, length, and drape of the finished headband.
- Optional Bow: For longer ties, repeat Row 2 on the first tie and Row 47 on the second tie until the desired length is reached.
- After finishing, gently stretch the headband near Rows 19 and 36 to help center and open the chain-loop sections and add length.
