Snowman Wine Bottle Cozy Crochet Pattern
What you will need for the Snowman Wine Bottle Cozy crochet pattern
- Bulky (#5) Bernat Velvet yarn in white – 40 yards; worsted weight (#4) yarn in black – 15 yards for hat, 3 yards for hat tie + small amount for eyes; worsted weight (#4) yarn in red – 13 yards for scarf; worsted weight (#4) yarn in orange – small amount for nose
- 5.00 mm (H) hook, 6.00 mm (J) hook
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Optional: 9mm buttons for eyes
Pattern Notes
* Beginner pattern
** Written in US crochet terms
* Designed to fit a standard size wine bottle.
** Finished size when laid flat = 5.25″ across x 9″ tall
* Gauge: 6 hdc x 4 rnds = 2″
** Ch stitch at the beginning of each round or row does not count as a stitch. Always place 1st stitch of each round or row in same stitch as beginning chain unless stated otherwise.
* Stitch count is only listed on each round or row when there is a change.
** This pattern can easily be worked using 2 strands of white worsted weight yarn in place of bulky #5. If using this method you may need to increase the amount of rnds until it measures 7.5″ when laid flat.

Snowman Body
With 6.00 mm (J) hook & bulky #5 white yarn
Ch 19.
Rnd 1:
6 sc in MC, slst to join to 1st sc. (6 sc)
Rnd 2:
ch 1, sc inc in each st around, slst to join to 1st sc. (12 sc)
Rnd 3:
rep Rnd 2. (24 sc)
Rnd 4:
ch 1, *sc next 3, sc inc; rep from * around, slst to join to 1st sc. (30 sc)
Rnd 5:
ch 1, hdc BLO in each st around, slst to join to 1st hdc. (30 hdc)
Rnds 6 – 16:
ch 1, hdc in each st around, slst to join to 1st hdc.
Do not finish off.
HAT:
With 6.00 mm (J) hook join #4 black yarn
Rnd 17:
ch 1, sc in each st around, slst to join to 1st sc.
Rnds 18 – 23:
ch 1, sc BLO in each st around, slst to join to 1st sc.
Rnd 24:
slst in each st around.
Finish off, weave in ends.
Add Face
EYES:
With #4 black yarn & 5.00 mm (H) hook
Make 2.
Rnd 1:
(sc, slst, sc) in MC, slst to join to 1st sc. (3 sts)
Finish off leaving a 12″ tail to attach to cozy.
Secure button eyes or, using tail, attach crocheted eyes to Rnd 14 leaving 3 sts between the eyes.
NOSE:
With #4 orange yarn & yarn needle
Use a 12″ strand of yarn doubled over to embroider nose into Rnd 13. It will be looped around the stitch 4 times. Be sure that it is centered between the eyes. Knot ends on inside of the cozy.
Make Scarf and Hat Tie
SCARF:
With #4 red yarn & 6.00 mm (J) hook
Ch 3.
Row 1:
sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2:
ch 1, sc in next 2.
Rows 3 – 58:
rep Row 2.
Finish off, weave in ends.
Finished scarf measures about 19″ long.
Hat Tie:
- Leaving a 4″ tail, ch 85.
- Finish off leaving a 4″ tail.
- Using yarn needle and one of the tails weave in and out of sts on Rnd 17.
- Trim the tails to 1″ long and leave as is or unravel to make fringe by “combing” a needle through the strands.
Finished tie measures about 21″ long.
