Peppermint coaster feature image

Introducing my new Peppermint Candy Coaster pattern. I can’t believe it’s finally here! I’ve had this sweet little crochet pattern tucked away for over a year and can finally share it with y’all.

This new peppermint candy pattern is so practical yet absolutely adorable with the colorful peppermint stripes. It has a beautiful texture and since there are only 3 rounds it works up super quickly.

Inspiration

These little cuties actually came about last year while I was designing the Merry Mug Rug. I was able to work on it a bit, but, I couldn’t get it to lay just right. So, what did I do? I tucked it away in my WIP bucket and went on to something else.

Fast forward to this year, I run across it in my bucket, I reworked it and voila we have the sweetest new Peppermint Coaster!

This beautiful new Peppermint Candy Coaster is the perfect pattern to use if you’re looking for holiday gift giving ideas or quick market makes!

Design Details

The Peppermint Candy Coaster is designed using #4 worsted weight cotton yarn so that it easily absorbs moisture.

Don’t have any cotton yarn? Not a problem. They work up beautifully when you use acrylic yarn too.

The coasters are worked in the round using single crochet and the link stitch. This is what gives the coaster such pretty texture. You will also need to know how to change colors and the paid PDF offers help on how I do it for this pattern.

When you’re ready to get started you can check out the FREE version of the pattern below. The premium, ad-free version of the Peppermint Candy Coaster is also available in my shops for a small fee.

The paid PDF includes the written instructions and a photo tutorial of over 30 photos to help you with the link stitch and color changes.

What you will need for the Peppermint Candy Coaster crochet pattern

  1. Worsted Weight #4 cotton yarn
  2. 12 yards of white; 12 yards of red
  3. 6.5 mm (K)
  4. Yarn Needle
  5. Scissors

Pattern Notes

  • Intermediate pattern
  • Written in US crochet terms
  • Finished size: 4” across
  • Gauge: From center of coaster to edge of Rnd 2 = 2”
  • The coaster is worked in the round.
  • This pattern uses the Link Stitch.
  • Beginning chain does not count as a stitch. Always place 1st stitch of each round in same stitch as beginning chain unless stated otherwise.
  • Stitch count is only listed on each round when there is a change.
  • I do not cut the yarn between color changes. I work the stitches then drop the color that I’m not working with. I pick up the next color and continue. You can work over the yarn if you wish but I don’t like for it to show through.
  • NOTE: After completing round 2 and finishing Option 1 or 2 to connect the Link Stitch round, make sure right side is facing you before working round 3.
  • Color change from white to red: complete Link Stitch until 2 loops remain on hook. Pull red through, drop white, complete the stitch.
  • Color change from red to white: complete Link Stitch, pull white through loop on hook to make ch st, drop red.
