Design Details
The Candy Corn Decoration is an advanced beginner crochet pattern worked in three classic candy corn colors using worsted weight yarn and a 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook.
The design begins with two matching triangles worked from the bottom up. Simple single crochet rows are combined with the textured Link Stitch, which is worked on Rows 3, 7, and 11. The Link Stitch is a beginner-friendly, Tunisian-inspired crochet stitch that adds texture by picking up loops through the horizontal bars of the previous stitch. It’s a fun way to try a less-common crochet technique while still working the entire project with a regular crochet hook.
Once both triangles are complete, they’re placed together and joined around the outside with a single crochet border before being lightly stuffed. You can keep the Candy Corn classic with a simple border or add the optional face, arms, and legs for a more playful character-style version.
The finished Candy Corn measures approximately 5 inches wide by 6 inches tall and uses about 30 yards of worsted weight yarn, making it a great small-yardage fall project.

Candy Corn Crochet Pattern
What You Will Need
Worsted weight (#4) yarn
Approx. 30 yards total:
- 16 yards yellow
- 8 yards orange
- 6 yards white
- 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Poly-Fil
- Optional: safety eyes and a small amount of black yarn for the mouth
Pattern Notes
- Advanced Beginner
- Written in US crochet terms.
- Chain stitches at the beginning of rows do not count as stitches.
- Stitch counts are listed only on rows where the stitch count changes.
- The Candy Corn is worked from the bottom up.
- Two matching triangles are crocheted and then joined with a single crochet border.
- The front side of the Link Stitch should face outward when the two triangles are joined.
- This pattern uses the Link Stitch. Review the Link Stitch tutorial below before beginning if needed.
- Gauge is not essential for this pattern.

Link Stitch Tutorial
New to the Link Stitch? Work through the steps below before beginning the Candy Corn triangle.
- Ch 3 to begin the first LS. Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook and pull up a loop, insert hook in 3rd ch from hook and pull up a loop, insert hook into 1st st from previous row and pull up a loop. (4 loops on hook)
- YO pull through 1st 2 loops (3 loops on hook), YO pull through next 2 loops, YO pull through last 2 loops on hook. 1st LS complete.
- To start the 2nd LS, insert hook under 1st horizontal bar of 1st LS and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook) insert hook under 2nd horizontal bar and pull up a loop, finally insert hook into next st of previous row and pull up a loop (4 loops on hook).
- Repeat step 2 to complete 2nd LS.
- Repeat steps 3 and 2 across.

Make 2.
With yellow yarn.
Ch 19.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (18 sc)
Row 2: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in next 12, dec, sc, turn. (16 sc)
Row 3: ch 3, work LS in the 1st sc and in each stitch across, turn.
Row 4: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in next 10, dec, sc, turn. (14 sc)
Row 5: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in next 8, dec, sc, turn. (12 sc)
Join orange yarn, clip yellow yarn.
Row 6: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 7: ch 3, LS in each stitch across, turn.
Row 8: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in next 6, dec, sc, turn. (10 sc)
Row 9: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in next 4, dec, sc, turn. (8 sc)
Join white yarn, clip orange yarn.
Row 10: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 11: ch 3, LS in each stitch across, turn.
Row 12: ch 1, sc, dec, sc in the next 2, dec, sc, turn. (6 sc)
Row 13: ch 1, sc, dec (2 times), sc, turn. (4 sc)
Row 14: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (4 sc)
Row 15: ch 1, dec (2 times). (2 sc)
Finish off.

Optional: Add Face
Before continuing to border, add eyes and mouth.
• EYES: Using safety eyes attach to Row 11, near the bottom of the LS making sure they are centered.
• MOUTH: Use a 14″ strand of yarn doubled over to embroider the mouth into Row 10. The mouth should be about 2 stitches wide and will only be looped through once. Tie the ends on the back tofinish off.
BORDERS
NOTE:
*The triangles are connected by working in row ends and across the bottom of
both triangles. Hold the triangles together being sure to place the backs together. (Make sure the front side of Link Stitch is on the outside.) *Clip yarn after joining new color.
Sc only border:
- Join yellow yarn on the side where yellow begins. Ch 1, 7 sc down side, 2 sc in
corner, 16 sc across the bottom, 2 sc in corner, 7 sc up next side. - Join orange yarn. 6 sc upside.
- Join white yarn. 7 sc up side, 2 sc in each st across top, 7 sc down next side. Lightly stuff candy corn.
- Join orange yarn. 6 sc down side. Slst to join to 1st sc. Finish off.
Sc with arms/legs border:
Legs = ch 15, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch.
Arms = ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch.
- With front facing you, join yellow yarn on the side where yellow begins. Ch 1, 7 sc down side, 2 sc in corner, sc next 5, lst leg, 6 sc, 2nd leg, 5 sc, 2 sc in corner, 7 sc up side.
- Join orange yarn. 3 sc up side, 1st arm, 3 sc up side.
- Join white yarn. 7 sc up side, 2 sc in each st across top, 7 sc down next side.
Lightly stuff candy corn. - Join orange, 3 sc down side, 2nd arm, 3 sc down side. Slst to join to 1st sc.
Finish off.
