✨ Inspiration Behind the Design
The Darling Daisy Granny Square was originally designed for the 2026 Granny Square Month CAL hosted by Underground Crafter. The challenge was to create an 8-inch granny square that could be mixed and matched with the other squares featured throughout the event.
As soon as I heard about the challenge, I knew I wanted to bring the Darling Daisy Collection into the project. Daisies have been at the heart of this collection since the very beginning, and creating a granny square felt like the perfect next step.
The raised flower center gives this square lots of texture while still keeping the construction approachable for advanced beginners. I also wanted the finished square to be easy to join so it could be used in blankets, pillows, bags, and other granny square projects.
One of my favorite things about granny squares is how versatile they are. You can crochet a single square for a quick project, or make a whole stack of them and turn them into something bigger. Before you know it, those little squares can become a beautiful blanket or a handmade piece for your home.
For the colors, I chose White, Fig, Almond, and Brindle in Brava Worsted from WeCrochet. Together they create a warm, cozy palette that feels right at home in the Darling Daisy Collection. The combination reminds me of simple farmhouse style, handmade touches, and the beauty found in everyday things.
Why You’ll Love the Darling Daisy Granny Square
Beautiful dimensional texture:
The raised daisy petals create eye-catching depth and texture that make the finished square stand out from traditional flat granny squares.
Beginner-friendly floral design:
The pattern combines simple stitches with detailed photo tutorials, making dimensional crochet flowers approachable for advanced beginners.
Perfect for larger projects:
The clean joinable border makes it easy to combine multiple squares into blankets, pillows, bags, table runners, and other modular crochet projects.
Farmhouse-inspired style:
Soft neutrals and floral texture create a cozy cottage-inspired look that works beautifully in home décor projects.
Relaxing granny square construction:
Once the flower center is complete, the granny-style rounds become rhythmic and enjoyable to crochet.
Versatile color possibilities:
Changing just one color round can completely transform the look of the finished square, making it easy to customize for different seasons and styles.
Great stash-busting project:
Each square uses a relatively small amount of yarn, making it perfect for using leftover worsted weight yarn from your stash.

🌼 About the Darling Daisy Collection
The Darling Daisy Collection is a series of crochet patterns inspired by the cheerful beauty of daisies and the joy of creating handmade pieces for everyday life. The collection first bloomed in 2022 with the release of the Darling Daisy Coaster. Since then, it has continued to grow with coordinating designs that feature dimensional petals, beautiful texture, and practical functionality.
Over the years, the collection has expanded to include a variety of home décor, entertaining, and giftable projects. Current designs include the Darling Daisy Coaster, Placemat, Hot Pad, Wine Glass Cozy, Wine Bottle Cozy, Bookmark, and now the Darling Daisy Granny Square. While each pattern serves a different purpose, they all share the same daisy-inspired style that has become a signature part of the collection.
The Darling Daisy Granny Square is the 7th pattern in the Darling Daisy Collection and the first design created as a traditional granny square. This 8-inch square features a raised daisy center, textured granny-style rounds, and a clean joinable border. It works beautifully for blankets, pillows, bags, table runners, and other granny square projects.
Whether you’re discovering the collection for the first time or have stitched several of the earlier designs, I hope you’ll enjoy this new addition. It brings together many of the things I love most about the Darling Daisy Collection. There’s floral inspiration, beautiful texture, and plenty of farmhouse charm. Most of all, it’s a project that’s fun to crochet and beautiful to use.
Yarn + Fabric Feel
For my samples, I used Brava Worsted by WeCrochet in White, Fig, Almond, and Brindle. This premium acrylic yarn creates a soft, comfortable fabric. It also provides excellent stitch definition, making it a great choice for granny squares and larger crochet projects.
Because this square was designed to be combined with other 8-inch motifs, I wanted a yarn that would work well for larger projects. At the same time, I wanted the flower center and textured details to stand out.
One of the things I love most about Brava Worsted is how clearly it showcases stitch details. The textured granny-style rounds and dimensional daisy center stand out beautifully, while the finished square remains lightweight and flexible enough for blankets, pillows, bags, and other motif-based projects.
The color combination used for this design creates a warm, earthy feel that complements the floral inspiration behind the Darling Daisy Collection. White petals help the daisy center pop, while the Fig, Almond, and Brindle accents add depth and visual interest to the surrounding granny square rounds.
Brava Worsted is easy to care for and holds up well over time. It also comes in a wide variety of colors, making it easy to customize this square for your own style.
If you’d like to use the same yarn I used for this design, you can find it here:

🌼 Final Thoughts
The Darling Daisy Granny Square has quickly become one of my favorite additions to the Darling Daisy Collection. I loved taking the floral inspiration from the earlier designs and transforming it into a classic granny square that can be used in so many different ways.
Designing this square for Granny Square Month 2026 was such a fun experience. I enjoyed the challenge of creating an 8-inch square that would work beautifully alongside the other designs in the event while still keeping the signature daisy petals and cozy farmhouse feel that inspired this collection from the very beginning.
Whether you crochet just one square or end up making an entire blanket, I hope this pattern brings a little extra joy to your crochet time. One of my favorite things about granny squares is how each one feels like a small accomplishment on its own, and before you know it, those little squares can become something truly beautiful.
