You’re going to love our new crochet pattern – The Calypso Headband pattern! These headbands are so quick to make and the repeat Braided Puff Stitch offers amazing texture. This advanced beginner pattern is perfect for everyday wear or make them with a nice shiny yarn to dress them up for a special occasion.
Inspiration
This new crochet pattern – the Calypso Headband, is another collaboration with my daughter, Alyssa and, my bestie Jamie also helped with finalizing this one. In fact, Jamie named it! Calypso means Goddess of the Sea and we agreed that was the perfect name for this pretty headband.
Alyssa recommended that we design something with a braided look which I love, but it made me stretch my imagination a bit. I had to research some new crochet stitches that I’ve not used before and that was super exciting. It also gave me tons of new pattern ideas!
I think you will love making these stylish Calypso Headbands and, be sure to experiment with all kinds of different yarns to see how versatile they are. We’ve even tried some sparkly #3 weight yarns and they turned out beautifully!
Design Details
The Calypso Headbands are designed using #4 worsted weight cotton yarn but I’ve enjoyed trying several types of DK weight yarns too. These also make the perfect stash busting project, as you only need about 60 yards of yarn to complete a headband.
The headbands are designed to fit teen to adult, but they’re easily customizable. Simply add or delete a few puff stitch rows to make them longer for those with lots of hair or shorter for the kiddos.
