Inspiration

These handmade coasters are perfect for any occasion!! Just make yourself a few sets in different colors to represent your favorite time of year. Look how cute they are in RED, WHITE & BLUE!!

Created from my love for practical yet beautiful crochet patterns, great texture and the one-of-a-kind Link Stitch. Adding a unique touch to your everyday moments has never been this easy!

If you need more coaster inspiration and want to try your hand at some new stitches then be sure to check out a few of my other patterns shown below.

Design Details

The coaster can be made with any brand of cotton yarn as long as it’s #4 worsted weight and a 5.50 mm (I) hook. You only need around 25 yards to make one coaster, and you can whip one up in about 30 minutes or less.

Like many of my other patterns I also include options to personalize the coasters to your own taste. You can use a solid color yarn or a fun variegated yarn, add fringe or even beads.

The coasters are worked in rows using the simple Crossed HDC Stitch pattern along with the Link Stitch (simple Tunisian crochet). Then the border is made using single crochet stitches.

This crochet pattern is really easy to customize with the endless color options that are available in worsted weight cotton yarn. The bright colored coaster shown above is made with Dishie yarn in Route 66 Multi.

Several of the yarns that I’ve used can be found on Amazon and if you want to check them out over there just click the photos below. **As an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualifying purchases.

Adding fringe to coasters

Add fringe

Cut four 6” long strands to attach one strand to each corner. Fold 1 strand in half, hold the coaster with back facing you and insert hook in corner and pull strand through. Insert both tails of the strand through the loop, pull tightly to secure. Thread both tails through the wooden bead and tie a knot to hold the bead on. Unravel the fringe, by “combing” your needle through the strands then trim to about 1” long.

I hope that you enjoy making your very own SASSy Square Coasters!
