Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case – Free Crochet Pattern

Some of the best crochet projects are the ones that become part of everyday life. They’re the handmade pieces we reach for again and again.

The Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case was designed to add a handmade touch to an everyday essential. It’s a practical project that’s perfect for summer adventures, travel days, and everyday errands.

As the 11th design in the Everyone’s Everyday Collection, this pattern celebrates the beauty of handmade everyday items. The Interlocking Row Stitch creates beautiful texture, and Dishie cotton yarn adds just enough structure for daily use.

With minimal finishing and a simple drawstring closure, this is a relaxing project to crochet. Whether you’re making one for yourself or stitching a thoughtful gift, I hope it brings a little handmade beauty to your everyday routine.

✨ Inspiration Behind the Design

The Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case was created as a practical accessory within the Everyone’s Everyday Collection. I wanted to design a project that would showcase the beautiful texture of the Interlocking Row Stitch while still being lightweight, functional, and enjoyable to crochet.

One thing I love most about crochet is its ability to turn everyday items into something both beautiful and useful. Some of the most meaningful handmade pieces are the ones we carry and use every day, and this sunglasses case was designed with that idea in mind — a simple project that adds texture, function, and a little handmade charm to everyday life.

Dishie cotton yarn worked beautifully for this project, creating a fabric that feels soft while still having enough structure for everyday use. The finished case is lightweight enough to tuck into purses, totes, beach bags, and travel bags while helping keep your sunglasses protected along the way.

I also love the simple drawstring closure and the subtle woven texture created by the Interlocking Row Stitch. Together they give the finished case a clean, polished look while still keeping the project relaxing and enjoyable to crochet.

Why You’ll Love the Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case:

Beautiful textured stitches:
The Interlocking Row Stitch creates subtle woven texture that adds interest while still being relaxing and approachable to crochet.

Lightweight yet functional:
This sunglasses case creates soft structure that helps protect your sunglasses without feeling bulky inside purses or totes.

Quick and satisfying project:
The pattern works up quickly, making it perfect for relaxing crochet sessions, summer projects, or thoughtful handmade gifts.

Beginner-friendly technique:
While the texture looks intricate, the stitch pattern uses simple repeats that become easy to memorize after the first few rows.

Perfect for everyday use:
Lightweight, practical, and easy to carry, this crochet sunglasses case is perfect for purses, beach bags, travel totes, and everyday organization.

Great stash-busting project:
This small project uses minimal yarn and works beautifully with cotton yarn like Dishie, making it perfect for using leftover skeins.

Clean modern finish:
The simple drawstring closure and subtle texture give the finished case a polished handmade look that feels both practical and stylish.

The Everyone’s Everyday Collection is built around the idea that everyday items deserve a handmade touch. Each pattern features the Interlocking Row Stitch, adding beautiful texture while still keeping the projects relaxing and enjoyable to crochet.

These patterns focus on practical projects that fit naturally into everyday life — from home décor pieces to simple accessories — all designed to be both functional and enjoyable to crochet.

The Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case is the 11th pattern in the Everyday Collection, bringing the signature textured stitch pattern into a lightweight and practical accessory that’s perfect for summer, travel, and everyday use.

Yarn + Fabric Feel

For my samples, I used WeCrochet Dishie cotton yarn, which creates a soft yet durable fabric that works beautifully for this sunglasses case while still remaining lightweight and flexible.

Dishie has become one of my go-to cotton yarns for practical projects like this. It’s easy to work with, holds up well to everyday use, and gives the stitches beautiful definition.

One of my favorite things about this pattern is how the Interlocking Row Stitch stands out in Dishie. The texture is subtle but beautiful, adding structure without making the finished case feel stiff or bulky.

I also loved how the colors worked for this design — from soft neutrals to fresh summer shades, Dishie makes it easy to customize your sunglasses case to match your personal style.

If you’d like to use the same yarn I used for this design, you can find it here:

Cotton yarn is especially well-suited for crochet accessories like this because it’s durable, breathable, and holds its shape well for everyday use inside purses, totes, and travel bags.

Do not finish off.

Do not finish off; ch 1. The side of the fabric facing you after completing
the final row is considered the right side. Fold the piece in half so the right
side is on the inside. Working through both layers, sl st evenly along the
side and bottom edge to close. Finish off, weave in ends, and turn right

Leaving a 3″ tail, ch until the drawstring measures approx. 13″ long. Finish
off, leaving about a 3 ” tail for tying.

Using a yarn needle or crochet hook, weave the drawstring in and out
through the spaces made in Row 26, working around the top opening of
the case. Bring both ends of the drawstring out near the side seam and tie
the drawstring ends together using the yarn tails. Trim ends if desired

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Once your seaming and drawstring are complete, your Everyone’s Everyday Sunglasses Case should measure approximately 3.75″ wide x 7″ long when laid flat and feature the subtle woven texture created by the Interlocking Row Stitch.

The lightweight cotton fabric creates gentle structure while still remaining flexible enough for everyday use inside purses, totes, beach bags, and travel bags. The simple drawstring closure helps keep your sunglasses secure while adding a clean and polished finishing touch.

This quick project also makes a wonderful handmade gift and pairs beautifully with other practical designs from the Everyone’s Everyday Collection.
