SOME PEOPLE ARE WORTH MELTING FOR.

– Olaf, Frozen

I’ve designed it so that it’s big enough to hold a cell phone but small enough not to be too bulky.

Inspiration

The new Sweetheart Purse pattern came from an idea that was suggested by one of my pattern testers when she tested another Sweetheart pattern. I thought her suggestion was just marvelous and started designing. The purse shares some similarities to the Sweetheart Hot Pad pattern but, I’ve increased the size a bit and I have used a different border, which was also recommended by one of my testers.

The heart shaped Popcorn Stitch is so easy to do and has been such a big hit with everyone, so I decided to design a few more patterns using it. Be sure to keep following along for more texture fun!

Design Details

Sweetheart Purses are designed using #4 worsted weight yarn. They look so cute in all the colors, especially when you use a contrasting color for the border.

This purse is designed to hold all of your small things like a cell phone and lipstick. But, go down to a #3 DK yarn and hook down for a super sweet child size bag. Another fun variation is to shorten the strap down to a handle and use it for a pouch and fill with candy for your special Valentine.

The new Sweetheart Purse is an easy advanced beginner pattern and it works up so quickly using a 4.00 mm (G) hook. You will need about 145 yards of yarn to make both sides and the border. There are 2 squares that are sewn together by working a simple sc, ch 2, sc sequence on both sides and the along the bottom.

To see the FREE version scroll down now. For those that prefer the premium, ad-free version of the Sweetheart Purse then you can grab it for a small cost in either of my shops. My shop links are listed below. In the paid version you will also get instructions on how to make a back without a heart, a graph for making the heart square and a photo tutorial of the popcorn stitch.
