Everyone’s Everyday Cowl Crochet Pattern

What you will need for the Everyone’s Everyday Cowl crochet pattern

  1. Worsted weight (#4) yarn. (Designed with Premier JUST YARN in Gray Tweed and White)
  2. 250 yds: 136 yds Color A-Gray Tweed, 14 yds Color B-White
  3. 5.00 mm (H) hook
  4. Yarn Needle
  5. Scissors

Pattern Notes

* Advanced beginner pattern.

** Written in US crochet terms.

* Finished size = 13″ across x 8″ tall.

** Gauge: Ribbing – 6 sc x 6 Rows = 1.5″; Body – 8 dc x Rnds 3 – 9 = 2″.

* Chain stitch at the beginning of row does not count as a stitch.

** Color A = ribbing and thin stripes; Color B = thick stripes.

* When working 2 Rows below you will crochet over the ch and into the st 2 Rows
below.

** To make cowl taller/shorter repeat Rnds 7 – 12 until you reach the desired
height. Then continue with Rnd 19 to finish.

* To change to next color complete the join and then pull new color through loop.
This is the ch 1 for the Rnd.

** I do not clip the yarn when making color changes. I drop the yarn and pick up
the next color.

BLO = Back Loop Only

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

FLO = Front Loop Only

join = Invisible Join Method (See photos 1 – 3 below.)

rep = repeat

sc = single crochet

sk = skip

slst = slip stitch

st = stitch

With Color A

Ch 7.

Row 1:

sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch, ch 1, turn. (6)

Row 2:

sc BLO in each st across, ch 1, turn.

Rows 3 – 99:

rep Row 2.

Do not finish off. Bring ends together with Row 1 in front. Slst ends together working across beginning ch and in back loop of Row 99, ch, 1 turn right side out, seam is now on the inside. (6 slst)

Body:

Continuing with Color A

Rnd 1:

sc in each Row end of ribbing, join to 1st sc. (99)

With Color B

Rnd 2:

sc in 1st st, *ch 1, sk st, sc; rep from * around, join to 1st sc. (50 sc, 49 ch sp)

Rnd 3:

ch 1, sc in 1st st, dc in sk st on Rnd 1, *ch 1, sk next st, dc in sk st on Rnd 1; rep from *around, sc in last st, join to 1st sc. (2 sc, 49 dc, 48 ch sp)

With Color A

Rnd 20:

ch 1, sc in each st around, join to 1st sc. (99 sc)

Do not finish off, continue with Ribbing.

Ribbing:

Ch 9.

Row 1:

sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch, slst in beginning st and next st on Row 20, turn. (6 sc)

Row 2:

sc BLO in each sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 3:

sc BLO in each sc across, slst in next 2 on Row 20, turn.

Rows 4 – 98:

rep Rows 2 & 3, ending with Row 2.

Row 99:

sc BLO in each sc across, slst in last st on Row 20, ch 1, turn, slst Row 1 to Row 99 working in chs of Row 1 and FLO of Row 99.

Finish off, weave in ends.
