Inspiration
This delightful ladybug crochet pattern is another design that has been quietly tucked away in my little notebook for a couple of years at least. For so many reasons I would bump it to the back and work on other designs. Finally, with a little “push” from my good friend Stacy, it’s finished and ready to share with you.
I was inspired to make the ladybug cozies for a couple of reasons. One, I love ladybugs. They’re very cute and their vibrant colors are just so beautiful. The second reason is that I knew they would pair beautifully with the Darling Daisy Wine Bottle Cozy or Sunflower Wine Bottle Cover.
Here’s a prototype of the 1st draft of the ladybug design with the daisy wine bottle cozy and they do look so cute together, right!?

Design Details
These eco-friendly cozies are designed using #4 cotton yarn. They work up in no time and look amazing in any color.
They are made in one piece so no sewing. Well, unless you add the eyes. If you’re like me though I try to avoid any sewing with my crochet projects so these look just as cute without eyes. If you do want to add eyes I designed them to be super easy to make and attach.
The new Ladybug Wine Glass Cozy is a speedy, advanced beginner pattern. You will need a 4.00 mm (G) hook for the body of the cozy and a 1.30 mm hook to make the eyes. You only need about 45 yards of yarn for the main color and about 6 yards of yarn for the polka dots.

Ladybug Stemless Wine Glass Cozy Crochet Pattern
What you will need for the Ladybug Stemless Wine Glass Cozy crochet pattern
- Medium #4 cotton yarn (Designed with I Love This Cotton in red and black.)
- Crochet thread to make the eyes
- 45 yards red yarn & 6 yards black yarn
- 1.30 mm hook for eyes & 4.00 mm (G) for body
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
Pattern Notes
* Advanced beginner pattern
** Written in US crochet terms
* Finished size: 5” across x 4” tall; Fits glasses that measure about 11″ around, at the widest part of the glass.
** Gauge: Rnds 1 – 5 = 2”, 8 hdc = 2”
* The ch stitch at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch. Always place 1st stitch of each row in same stitch as beginning chain unless stated otherwise.
** Stitch count is only listed on each row when there is a change.
* The cozy is worked in the round from the bottom up.
** When working the PS rounds, I carry the red yarn but clip the black yarn after each PS as it shows through when the cozy is on the glass.
* Color changes:
1. For sc color changes, work pattern as instructed and on the last sc before the color change, stop before the last yarn over. Pick up the alternate color and complete the st.
2. To complete the PS and change back to the main color, begin working the 4th sc, stop before the last yarn over, pull the new color through.

dc, ch 3, *dc in next dc, ch 3; rep from * around, slst to join to 1st dc, ch 1. (10 dc)
Rnd 4:
sc, 3 sc in ch space, *sc in next dc, 3 sc in next ch space; rep from * around, slst to join to 1st sc, ch 1. (40 sc)
Note: Join black yarn when working each PS.
Rnd 5:
PS, join red yarn, sc in next 4, * join black yarn, PS, join red yarn, sc in next
4; rep from * around, slst to join to 1st PS, ch 1. (8 PS, 32 sc)

Eyes (Optional)
Make 2.
Using a 1.30 mm hook and white crochet thread, ch 2, hdc 3 times in 2nd ch from hook, slst to join, finish off, leaving a 12” tail to attach.
Attach to Rnd 11 between the 2 antennas on Rnd 13.
