All About This Christmas Acrylic Color Pack Yarn
The Hobbii Christmas Acrylic Color Pack yarn is a light worsted, #3, DK weight yarn. This yarn comes in a pack of 5 beautiful colors and is perfect for all different kinds of projects. For the #HaveYourselfAMerryLittleDIY challenge I chose to design a couple of new patterns, the Winter Wine Bottle Sweater and a matching Hat!! In this post I’m sharing the sweater, the hat is coming soon.
Christmas Acrylic is a very soft yarn with a wonderful, airy volume. It is a really good quality product and there is a great selection of colors. It’s easy to work with and a little goes a long way!
It can be machine washed and the shape and color will hold up fabulously making it perfect for everyday use.
Design Details
The Winter Wine Bottle Sweater is designed using the Christmas Acrylic Color Pack. It is a lightweight, very durable #3 DK weight yarn. I designed the bottle covers in 2 and 3 different color combos but these sweaters look so cute in just one color too!
This yarn is so easy to work with and is extremely soft making it a perfect yarn for hats, blankets and scarves too.
My new fun sweater design is an advanced beginner pattern that works up in no time using a 3.75 mm (F) hook, a 4.00 mm (G) hook and you only need small amounts of yarn. They’re made in one piece starting with the top ribbing and the main body is worked in the round from the top down using half double crochet and single crochet stitches. The sweater is finished off with a bottom ribbing for a snug fit.
I will definitely be using this yarn again for making more home decor patterns and even lightweight blankets, beanies and scarves.
New Winter Wine Bottle Sweater Crochet Pattern
What you will need for the Winter Wine Bottle Sweater crochet pattern
- #3 Christmas Acrylic Color Pack DK weight yarn
- 150 yards
- 3.75 mm (F) hook for the ribbing; 4.00 mm (G) hook for the body
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- Pompom or Pompom maker
Pattern Notes
- Advanced beginner pattern
- Written in US crochet terms
- Finished size: 4″ across (laid flat) x 12.5″ tall (with top ribbing unfolded)
- Gauge: 9 hdc x 8 rounds of alternating sc & hdc3l.
- Ch st at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
- Stitch count is only listed on each row or round when there is a change.
- When working the hdc3l you will be working into the 3rd loop in the back.
- When working the single crochet rounds you will see “join” and that means to use the invisible join method on those rounds. You will not join the other rounds unless otherwise stated in the pattern instructions.

- When working the sc rounds make sure your tension isn’t too tight. It will be difficult to work the hdc3l rounds if so.
Stitch Key
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc3l = half double crochet 3rd loop only
BLO = Back Loop Only
rep = repeat
Rnd(s) = Round(s)
slst = slip stitch
st = stitch
Instructions
Top Ribbing
With 3.75 mm (F) hook
Ch 21
Row 1:
sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch, ch 1, turn.
Row 2:
sc blo in each st across, ch 1, turn. (20 sc)
Rows 3 – 24:
rep Row 2.
Turn, bring ends together with Row 1 in the back. Slst ends together working across beginning ch and in back loop of Row 24, turn right side out, seam is now on the inside.
Do not finish off, continue with body of sweater.
Body
With 4.00 mm (G) hook join red yarn
Rnd 1:
work 34 sc around edge, slst to join, ch 1. (34 sc)
Rnd 2:
hdc3l in each st around.
Rnd 3:
sc in each st around, join, ch 1.
Rnd 4 – 24:
rep Rnds 2 & 3. End with a Rnd 2.
Rnd 25:
sc in each st around, slst to join to 1st sc. (NOTE: slst to join, do not use the invisible join method here)
Do not finish off, continue with bottom ribbing on sweater.
Bottom Ribbing
With 3.75 mm (F) hook join green yarn
Ch 7
Row 1:
sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch.
Row 2:
slst in next 2 sts on Rnd 25, turn, sk 2 slst, sc blo across, ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Row 3:
sc blo in each st across, ch 1, turn. (6 sc)
Rows 4 – 33:
rep Rows 2 – 3. End with Row 2.
One slst in last st, ch 1, turn.
Slst ends together by working across beginning ch and in front loop of Row 1.
Finish off and weave in ends.
