The new SASSy Sunflower Market Bag crochet pattern is perfect for all of your shopping needs! It was designed for your fruit and veggie shopping but, it would be perfect as a crochet project bag or a beach bag too. This cute carryall works up quickly using a lot of double and treble crochet stitches and it also includes a fun round of basic stitches to form the leaves for added texture.

Inspiration

Can you believe it’s been over a year since releasing my first sunflower pattern? I just ran out of time last year to finalize this pretty, but practical pattern since I was being indecisive on a few things. One issue that slowed the process was that I couldn’t decide on the style of the handle and then should it be worked in the round as one piece or in sections and sewn together. Luckily, all of those obstacles were finally resolved and I just know you’re going to love making tons of these one piece SASSy Sunflower Market Bags!!

If you’ve been following SASS for awhile, then you will quickly recognize several similarities between this new SASSy Sunflower Market Bag crochet pattern and the other sunflower patterns in the collection. Notice it looks very much like the SASSy Sunflower placemat design so, if you’ve worked up a set of those beauties then you’re sure to love making this market bag!!

Design Details

hanging sunflower market bag

This new SASSy Sunflower Market Bag is an advanced beginner pattern. It is designed using #4 worsted weight I Love This Cotton yarn. I like the durability of cotton yarn for projects like this but, they are fabulously useful when made with acrylic yarn too.

It is worked in the round using mostly double and treble crochet stitches and I’ve also added a round that uses the Popcorn stitch for more amazing texture.

The petals on this pattern are designed using basic stitches like the other SASSy Sunflower patterns in the series and come together very quickly.

The handle is worked in one piece. You can then style it a couple of different ways either with one long strap or 2 shorter handles. Since I’m a shorty I like the 2 handles!
