Mini Country Pumpkin pattern ~ pdf triple

How cute is the New Mini Country Pumpkin crochet pattern? This is the second pumpkin pattern by SASS and it is just as fun to make as our first one, the Knotty Punkin’!! Have you made the Knotty Punkin’ yet? If not, they make a great set!!

Now you can make your very own mini pumpkin patch with the FREE pattern instructions shown below. This cutie is an advanced beginner pattern and you can easily make several in no time! From making garland for your mantle by connecting a few with jute across the stems to adding a name tag and using them as part of your Fall table settings these are sure to be super fun to decorate with.

Inspiration

We wish that we had a fascinating story behind the Mini Country Pumpkin idea but this fun design was nothing more than a super quick thought that just came together after 1 or 2 small adjustments. We needed some adorable mini pumpkins to add to the fall dining room decor and I LOVE the Link Stitch so we now have the new Mini Country Pumpkin crochet pattern!

Basket o Mini Country Pumpkins

Design Details

The Mini Country Pumpkin pattern is designed with worsted weight #4 yarn, but the ones that I made with #3 DK weight cotton yarn were super cute too.

According to my testers these pumpkins are very addicting to make so they made several of them!! Just decide on your favorite color yarn and grab a 3.75 mm (F) hook to start making your Mini Country Pumpkin. Once you finish your pumpkin you’ll then need a 3.50 mm (E) hook to whip up the stem. I also heard from some of my testers that the stem was their favorite part. It is purposely slightly ruffled for a little added texture.

The Mini Country Pumpkin PDF download includes the written instructions as well as 3 different photo tutorials. The first tutorial is for the Link Stitch, the second tutorial is for seaming the pumpkin together and closing the ends and the third photo tutorial helps with making the stem.

Instructions For The Pumpkins

Ch 19 using 3.75 mm (F) hook

Row 1:

sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 3, turn. (18 sc)

Row 2:

Begin first link stitch in 2nd ch from hook, continue down into the 3rd ch and into the 1st sc from the previous row. Work a link stitch in each stitch across, ch 1, turn. (18 link stitches)

Rows 3 – 4:

sc in next 3 st, hdc in next 12 st, sc in next 3 st, ch 1, turn. (18 sc)

Row 5:

sc next 3 st, hdc next 12 st, sc next 3 st, ch 3, turn.

Rows 6 – 13:

rep Rows 2 – 5 (2 times).

Row 14:

rep Row 2.

Rows 15 – 16:

rep Rows 3 – 4.

DO NOT finish off. Bring sides together with Row 1 behind Row 16. Wrong side is facing out. Slst together by working through the beginning chs of Row 1 and both loops of Row 16, ch 1. (18 slst)

Finish off and leave a long tail (about 18”) for sewing up the end.

Closing the Pumpkin Ends

Using the long tail, thread your needle and make a running stitch through the stitches along the edge. Pull the yarn tightly to gather the end together then secure the closure. Turn pumpkin right side out. Stuff the pumpkin with Poly-fil. Cut a new length of yarn, about 3 – 4 feet long, close the other end the same way as the previous end.

Using the same tail, I made the indentations. Put the yarn on the outside of the pumpkin spacing evenly between the link stitch rows (rows 4, 8, 12 & 16) then insert the needle through the middle and pull tight. Continue to wrap the yarn around the outside between each of the link stitch rows and back through the middle 3 more times. Secure and weave in the end.

Adding A Stem

Decorate the top however you like. For the Mini Crochet Country Pumpkins, I use the instructions for the crochet stem shown below. It’s also fun to attach real stems and then tie on a bow or raffia. Other fun options would be wine corks or cinnamon sticks!!
