The new SASSy Neck Sweater crochet pattern is here, finally!! A couple of obstacles popped up causing a delay in the release of this stylish cowl but it’s now available and I’m so excited to share it with you.
Now you can make your very own neck sweater with the FREE pattern instructions shown below. This chic cowl is a beginner friendly pattern and it whips up in no time at all! From pink to black to any color in between these look stylish with almost any outfit.
Design Details
This neck sweater was designed to be super quick and easy and my testers all reported that it is both. Using #5 velvet yarn and a 6.5mm hook (K) I can whip one of these up in under an hour. The SASSy Neck Sweater is a perfect pattern for beginners and only requires basic stitches to complete.
I love cowls and I especially love the thick bulky ones but, I live in Texas. It is not often that we need those super warm heavy ones here. However, there are days that we need just a light sweater and that is exactly what this snazzy SASSy Neck Sweater is. It’s perfect for those of us that don’t necessarily endure harsh winters but need just a little extra on those cool days.
Inspiration
The idea for this pattern stems from my “WINE TIME” bottle and stemless glass sweaters. While finishing up an order for the wine glass sweaters I thought how cute it would be as a cowl. Unlike the “WINE TIME” sweaters I decided to leave out the Link Stitch on this pattern so that it would make up much more quickly.

What you will need
- #5 Velvet yarn (I used Yarnspirations Bernat Velvet)
- Approximately 135 yards
- 6.50 mm (K)
- Yarn Needle

- Beginner friendly pattern
- Written in US crochet terms
- Finished size: 12” across the middle (the top and bottom are a bit wider at approximately 14”) x 12” long
- GAUGE: not essential

- HDC = Half Double Crochet
- DC = Double Crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- Rep = Repeat
- Sk = Skip a stitch

Instructions
Rnd 1:
Ch 64 loosely, join to 1st Ch making sure not to twist the Ch, Ch 2
Rnd 2:
DC in each st around, join to 1st DC, Ch 2 (64 DC)
Rnd(s) 3-4:
FPDC around 1st DC, BPDC around 2nd DC, alternate FPDC & BPDC around, join to 1st DC, Ch 2 (64 DC)
Rnd 5:
DC in each st around, join to 1st DC, Ch 2 (64 DC)
