Inspiration

Created especially for the Head Over Heels Blog Hop hosted by Madame Stitch along with my love for heart shaped patterns and the Waistcoat stitch, the Love Forever Beanie crochet pattern is the perfect sweet project for February, the month of LOVE. This beanie features pretty heart motifs that wrap all the way around.

If you love crocheting beanies and you’re looking for more inspiration for your fall and winter wardrobe, then be sure to check out some other SASS Beanie Crochet patterns.

Design Details

Designed with one of my favorite yarns, I Love This Yarn, a soft worsted weight yarn. It only takes about 265 yards of yarn to complete a beanie so they whip up pretty quickly. You’ll also need 2 different sized hooks; a 5.00mm (H) hook for the ribbing & 5.5mm (I) hook for the body.

The Love Forever Beanie made by my fabulous tester Michele!

There are so many color options available in worsted weight yarn making this crochet pattern super easy to customize. The beanie shown above from Michele is made with I Love This Yarn in White, Royal and Meadow Dance. For the beanie in the photo at the beginning of the article I used I Love This Yarn in White, Gray Mist and Amethyst.

You can find many of these yarns on Amazon and if you want to check them out over there just click the photos below. **As an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualifying purchases.

The Love Forever beanies are worked in the round from the bottom up and when making the color changes I just carry the yarn instead of clipping it. Try to work the Wc loosely and tip your hook up so that the 2nd loop is slightly higher than the 1st loop on hook. The Wc tends to tighten up which will make crocheting into the previous round difficult.

This is an intermediate pattern due to the Waistcoast stitch. It requires some practice to get the tension just right and the color changes also make it a little more of an advanced pattern. I think an adventurous beginner can easily take on this pattern as long as they have a good understanding of keeping the tension loose. With a little practice, most can definitely master this pattern!

Pattern Notes for the Love Forever Beanie Pattern

* Intermediate pattern.

** Written in US crochet terms.

* Finished size: When laid flat, 9.5″ across at the widest point x 8.75″ tall.

** Gauge: Ribbing – 8 slst x 7.5 Rows = 1.5″; Body – 8 Wc ×10 Rnds = 2″.

* Chain stitch at the beginning of Rnd does not count as a stitch.

** Try to work the Wc loosely and tip your hook up so that the 2nd loop is slightly higher than the 1st loop on hook. The Wc tends to tighten up which will make crocheting into the previous Rnd difficult.

* Previous experience with colorwork is helpful but definitely not required. I used a combination of tapestry and intarsia crochet. Be sure to leave slack in the carried yarn.

** Right side is always facing you and all tails should be on the wrong side (inside of beanie) of your work.

* Ribbing is worked in rows, body is worked in the rnd.

** Do not turn after any Rnd.
