The new CrissCross Chunky Beanie crochet pattern is here! This is the 4th CrissCross pattern in the collection and it’s also my first published beanie pattern!! If you love making beanies, especially quick ones then you’re sure to add this pattern to the top of your to-do list. This is a simple design and the best part is that I can hook one up in under an hour. The CrissCross Chunky Beanie is an advanced beginner pattern like the others in this cozy set of patterns and is beautiful in either a solid color or with a contrasting stripe.

Inspiration
This new CrissCross Chunky Beanie pattern is definitely one of my favorites but, I have to admit that a beanie was not in the original lineup when I started this collection. For some reason designing a beanie seemed so scary yet the design was right there, in my head. It did take quite a bit of encouragement from my tester team to get my vision out there and for that I’m so grateful. They were right there beside me and so helpful in bringing this comfy beanie pattern to life.
Be sure to stay tuned if you are enjoying making any of the other CrissCross Chunky patterns like the CrissCross Chunky Scarf or CrissCross Chunky Cowl, there will be boot cuffs and a poncho coming too!
Design Details
The CrissCross Chunky Beanie works up very quickly. It is designed with bulky #5 yarn like the others in the collection and you only need about 140 yards of yarn to complete one beanie. I love to make these in a solid color but, they are very pretty when I make them using 2 different colors of yarn. Just change colors on a few of the rounds, including the crisscross round to really show off the beautiful texture of the loops.
This beanie has a relaxed type style, it’s not slouchy or super tight and is designed with a wide brim to ensure that your ears are nice and warm. The CrissCross round is just above the brim so that the loops really pop when its being worn. This advanced beginner pattern uses basic stitches and you’ll need a 5.50 mm (I) hook and a 6.50 mm (K) hook to make a CrissCross Chunky Beanie.
