Inspiration
My new SASSy Spa Set crochet patterns have been in my handy little notebook for a really long time, like probably 2 years or more. Every year I knew Mother’s Day was coming and that I needed to get them written up and tested but I always ran out of time. This year I put my mind to it and finally pulled it together, barely though since Mother’s Day is in less than 2 weeks.
My inspiration for this collection started with the soap saver when I discovered The Yummy Soap Co over on Instagram. I completely fell in love with Brandie’s goat milk products and I only use her soaps now for my face and body care. After ordering several body soaps, I decided that I needed a soap saver made to fit those remarkable bars of soap.
Then, since I cleanse my face with her Sweet Haitian Princess soap I thought that a spa headband to hold my hair back and a reusable facial mitt or facial cleansing pad would be perfect additions to the set.
If you love this set be on the lookout for a couple of more patterns that I will be adding to the collection.
Design Details
Three of the eco-friendly patterns, the Soap Saver, Facial Mitt and the Facial Cleaning Pad are designed using #4 cotton yarn. They work up so quickly and I can finish all 3 within an hour.
The Spa Headband is designed using #6 super bulky blanket yarn and you only have to work 3 rounds to finish your own headband. It also works up well using #5 bulky yarn and a 6.00 mm hook. But, you will need to increase the chain count to 50 if you use the smaller #5 yarn.
The new SASSy Spa Set crochet patterns are easy, advanced beginner patterns worked up using a 5.00 mm (H) hook for the Facial Mitt and Cleansing Pad, a 5.50 mm (I) hook for the Soap Saver and an 8.00 mm (L) hook for the Spa Headband. You will need about 19 yards of super bulky blanket yarn to make the headband and about 60 yards of #4 cotton yarn to work up the other 3 patterns.

- 27 yards of #4 yarn for soap saver; 16 yards of #4 yarn for facial cleansing mitt; 16 yards of #4 yarn for facial cleansing pad; 19 yards of #6 yarn for spa headband

** Written in US crochet terms
* Finished size: Soap Saver = 3.5” across x 5” long; Facial Mitt = 2.75” across x 4” long; FacialCleansing Pad = 4” across x 4.5” long; Spa Headband = approximately 1.5” wide x 10”across when folded in half.
** Gauge: Not necessary for the Soap Saver, Facial Mitt & Facial Cleansing Pad. Headband – 1 hdc x 2 hdc Rnds = 1”
* The ch stitch at the beginning of a row does not count as a stitch. Always place 1st stitch of each row in same stitch as beginning chain unless stated otherwise.

Rnd 3:
*dc inc, dc, sc in next 5; rep from * once, slst to join, ch 2. (16)
Rnd 4:
*dc inc, dc, sc in next 6; rep from * once, slst to join, ch 1. (18)
Rnds 5 – 11:
hdc in each st around, slst to join, ch 1.
Rnd 12:

Finish off, weave in ends.
Soap Saver Cord
Fasten yarn on hook leaving a 4” tail, ch 35, finish off leaving a 4” tail. (Length without tails = 11”)
Weave cord in and out of each ch sp on Rnd 12. Tie a knot with 4” tails, trim tails to 1” long.
Instructions Facial Mitt
5.00 mm (H) hook & #4 cotton yarn
Ch 2.
Rnd 1:
sc in 2nd ch from hook 12 times, slst to join, ch 2. (12 sc)
Rnd 2:
*dc inc, dc, sc in next 4; rep from * once, slst to join, ch 2. (14)
Rnd 3:
*dc inc, dc, sc in next 5; rep from * once, slst to join, ch 2. (16)
Rnd 4:
*dc inc, dc, sc in next 6; rep from * once, slst to join, ch 1. (18)
Rnds 5 – 10:
hdc in each st around, slst to join, ch 1.

NOTE: The mitt is designed to barely cover your fingers. However, if you would like it longer simply repeat Rnd 5 to the desired length.
Instructions Facial Cleansing Pad
5.00 mm (H) hook & #4 cotton yarn
Ch 2.

sc in 2nd ch from hook 12 times, slst to join, ch 2. (12 sc)
Rnd 2:
*dc inc in next 2, dc, hdc, hdc inc, hdc; rep from * once, join, ch 2. (18)
Rnd 3:

*hdc inc in next 8, hdc in next 5; rep from * once, join, ch 2. (46)

NOTE: The cleansing pad is designed to have an oval shape as well as a slight ruffle. It will not lay perfectly flat.
Instructions Spa Headband
8.00 mm (L) hook & bulky yarn
Ch 40 loosely, slst to 1st ch being careful not to twist the ch, ch 1..
Rnd 1:
hdc in each ch around, slst to join, ch 1. (40 hdc)
Rnd 2:
*FPhdc, BPhdc; rep from * around, slst to join, ch 1.
Rnd 3:
slst loosely in each st around.
Finish off, weave in ends.
OPTIONAL:
- The headband also works up well using #5 bulky yarn, a 6.00 mm hook and increase to ch 50 rather than 40 for super bulky yarn.
- Easily make a larger size by increasing the ch by multiples of 2.
