New crochet pattern ~ SASSy Sticks Drop Earrings!
A simple yet stately earring…I think that’s what many of us appreciate in our jewelry. When I was working on this design that is what I wanted to accomplish, something that looks luxurious while being a highly wearable piece. I think that the SASSy Sticks Drop Earrings offer you just that.
The braided appearance of the crocheted wire offers appealing texture in these darling drop earrings. You want a little more SASS? No problem! It’s so easy to add charms, beads or tassels for a more impressive look. It’s also very easy to extend or shorten the length of these drop earrings which I share in the paid version of the pattern. Pattern ~ BASIC version
Advanced Beginner Pattern
What you will need to make your own basic SASSy Sticks Drop Earrings:
- 28 gauge jewelry wire
- 1.65 mm crochet hook
- a pair of ear wires
- round nose jewelry pliers
- long nose jewelry pliers
- diagonal jewelry cutters
(Make 2)
Ch 11, turn
Row 1: Work 1 sc in second ch from hook and continue across. After finishing the last sc put your crochet hook aside. Using the round nose jewelry pliers, insert under both loops of each sc to lift the sc loops then resume with your crochet hook and ch 1, turn. (10 sc)
Next, sl st in each sc across and work 1 sl st in the end then continue to sl st up the other side and make 1 sl st in the other end.
Finish off and weave in the ends.
Now!! Let’s shape your SASSy Sticks
First, slightly lift up the sl st loops up as they will be flat against the earring and lifting them will help form a valley to place the hook into. Then, to get the tube-like effect, lay the earring on a flat surface and place the end of a small metal crochet hook on top of it and gently begin to press the earring around the end of the hook. The edges may not meet when wrapped around the hook and that is okay, you should still have obtained the tube-like shape and can now remove the crochet hook.
Lastly, open the ear wire with your jewelry pliers and attach to the same end as the last sl st on each earring and that’s it!!
